Visakha Utsav 2011 - Three day Mega Tourism Festival on the East Coast of India

Visakha Utsav 2011  a tourism festival  is going to be held in the month of December in Beach Front of Visakhapatnam city (also known as Vizag City) , Andhra Pradesh, India essentially to focus on the rich cultural heritage of this area as well as to promote tourism. It is a window to project the enormous tourism potential of the region and to project Visakhapatnam as an international tourist destination. The three day Utsav includes Carnival, Tollywood Film Night, Fairs (Food Fair,Textile Fair, Flower/Horticulture Show, Craft Fair, Chudia Bazar, Tourism Fair, Airlines Fair), National Fish Festival, Exhibitions (Miniature Vizag, Industrial Exhibition, Photo Exhibition on Vizag, Photo Exhibition of  State & Central Govt departments) Sports & Games (Yatching, Beach Valley ball, Beach Hand Ball, Beach Foot Ball, Archery, Kabbadi), Heritage Tours(local tours, Rail cum Road Package Tour via Borra Caves, Budhist Site Tours etc).

Visakhapatnam at Glance


Come, discover the history behind this  ‘Jewel on the East Coast’, Once a small fishing village, Visakhapatnam has  witnessed the  reigns of  Asoka the Great, Pallavas, Cholas and Gangas. Later, the  British transformed it into a port town. The 24-Km Beach Road from Visakhapatnam to Bhimili is one of the longest beach roads in India. The sun kissed beaches enroute make the drive as enjoyable as the destination. The drive starts from Visakhapatnam City and its environs presents a soul string  panorama of  golden beaches, lush green vegetation and splendid monuments from a  rich Historical heritage. It is a large busy port and Industrial Centre with a Shipyard Giant Steel plant and Several industries it is the seat of Andhra University which was founded in 1926 and also the Headquarters of Eastern Naval Command . It is a popular tourist destination.
